Unrelated Thoughts

So Buddha said that the source of all suffering is desire. People are quite content until they realize exactly what they don’t have. In theory a better understanding of the nature of desire leads to less suffering. I am not just talking about desire for things but more of a broad term, desire for people, desire for familiarity. With that in mind ebay has been the cause of a lot of my suffering lately. Suffering of the mundane kind.

I have been on the pill for a while now. I’d say it is an entirely useful drug and I recommend it for everyone. I didn’t realize how dependent I am on it until recently. I missed a day… Can you imagine withdrawal symptoms of PMS? Seriously, can you even think of anything worse? Well I am sure heroin is worse but we are talking about legal drugs here.

I was on the bus the other day and I was wearing my pirate shirt. One of the girls from my art class looked at me with this disappointed expression and said, “But why pirates? Ninjas are much cooler.” I wasn’t expecting this so I didn’t really have a ready answer. First of all why are pirates and ninjas the ones to be compared here? I mean they really don’t interact. If you put a ninja on a pirate ship he is no longer a ninja. He is a pirate with skillz and a somber taste in clothing. But I have been thinking about it and I have some reasons why I like pirates.
1. One Piece
2. Ships on the ocean. I really dig that nautical thing.
3. The Rogue adventurer. I know this has little based in fact but I don’t care.
4. The “look” These are very colorful people.
5. Pirate flags are cool.
I understand it is a phase. One of these days I will wake up and move on to better things. I just don’t think it will be any day soon.
